High rise condos line the beach

Condominium towers reach skyward on the Long Beach shoreline facing the ocean — and new buildings are rising all over the city every day.  In the foreground are tents set up near the Rainbow Lagoon for the annual Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix.

Gorgeous condominiums line Ocean Boulevard from downtown Long Beach, California to the edge of Belmont Heights.  Near downtown they are high-rises, but become two story condos closer to Belmont Shore.

Historic old hotels and modern condominiums on the beach

The grandmother of them all is the Villa Riviera, above, with the green roof and slender tower on top. Formerly a hotel, this elegant condo tower looks as if it had been transplanted from the 1930s New York. The interior of the units also have an historic appearance and many combine what were formerly two hotel suites into one condo. There are three other buildings nearby that previously were hotels back when Long Beach was a resort destination, but now are condos.

Also notable, and right across the street from the Villa Riviera, is the 1960s round International Tower, with its pie-shaped condos.  There are also several other high rises, more contemporary, with beautiful condos with modern amenities.

Once abandoned and empty, many older office buildings in downtown Long Beach have also been converted into loft spaces for sale.

Fabulous views and great amenities

It goes without saying– but I will say it anyway — the views from these high rise condos are amazing whether they face the ocean and Catalina Island on the horizon or look inland toward the city lights of Los Angeles and the distant mountains.

Great amenities, such as fitness centers and pools, are available in most of them. And they are within walking distance to the restaurants and entertainment venues of downtown. The Metro Blue line which goes to downtown Los Angeles is close by.

If you are interested in an alternative to a high rise condo, there are also low-rise beach front condos where you can step out your door and onto the sand.

And, out in Belmont Shore, there is the Marina Pacifica complex of condos actually built over the water of Alamitos Bay. You can tie up your boat right outside the door!
