In the early 20th Century Long Beach was a destination resort -- a place to escape the summer heat of Los Angeles. Some homes in Belmont Heights and adjacent neighborhoods were originally built as summer cottages. By the 1920s homes in Belmont Heights and nearby neighborhoods were built as permanent year 'round residences.
There are also low-rise condos throughout the Heights.
Belmont Heights is less congested and significantly quieter than Belmont Shore or Naples Island and within a few minutes walk to the beach. A few blocks to the west of Belmont Heights is the charming, small neighborhood of Carroll Park. You can learn more about Carroll Park bungalows on this website. Yet another neighborhood with bungalows is Rose Park Historic District. Belmont Shore stops at Broadway where the narrow Bluff Park neighborhood begins. In Bluff Park estate size homes are significantly grander and more architecturally distinguished. You can see Bluff Park homes on this site. |
