If you love California
Craftsman bungalows, you will see hundreds of them in
the charming Belmont Heights neighborhood of Long Beach. Many
people consider Belmont Heights to be among the most
desirable in Long Beach. It is adjacednt
to the beach without being inundated with tourists in
summer. |
In the early 20th Century Long Beach
was a destination resort -- a place to escape the summer heat of
Los Angeles. Some homes in the now affluent Belmont Heights and adjacent
neighborhoods were originally built as summer cottages. By the
1920s homes in Belmont Heights and nearby neighborhoods were
built as permanent year 'round residences.

Many of the homes are in
the California Craftsman Bungalow style. This area
became what many call "Bungalow Heaven" because it has
the most Craftsman bungalow style homes of any area of Long
Beach. You will also find Spanish Revival and
Mediterranean homes as well as charming cottage style
houses along the tree-lined streets in Belmont
Heights.

There are also low-rise condos
throughout the Heights, as well as rental apartments in Spanish
Revival style.
